City and Colour

City and Colour is the solo project of Dallas Green, a Canadian musician who rose to recognition as a member of the post-hardcore group Alexisonfire. Born Dallas Michael John Albert Green on September 29, 1980, in St. Catharines, Ontario, he began his musical journey in a band called Helicon Blue, which released two EPs before disbanding in 2000. Formed in 2001, his next band Alexisonfire went on to become one of the most acclaimed alternative metal acts in Canada, releasing four albums between 2002 and 2009, and receiving numerous awards and certifications. Sometimes, his first release as City and Colour, appeared in 2005 and won the 2007 Juno Award for Alternative Albums of the Year. His platinum-selling studio debut was followed by the folk-tinged Bring Me Your Love, an album featuring mostly acoustic instrumentation and cameos by The Tragically Hip's Gord Downie and Attack in Black's Spencer Burton and Ian Romano. Bring Me Your Love reached Number 3 on the Canadian charts and was certified double platinum; a feat he would repeat once again in 2011 with his third studio effort, Little Hell. The album became the first City and Colour release to reach Number 1 in Canada, and also enjoyed great popularity in Australia, where it reached gold status. After putting Alexisonfire on hold to focus on his solo project, Dallas Green scored two back-to-back chart-toppers with City and Colour's The Hurry and the Harm (2013) and Rose Ave. (2014), recorded with American pop singer P!nk as the folk duo You+Me. If I Should Go Before You, City and Colour’s fifth long player, was released in 2015 to great critical acclaim, also achieving pole position in the Canadian Albums Chart and earning several nominations by the Juno Awards. Over the next few years, Dallas Green got to accompany his musical heroes Alice in Chains on their tour throughout Canada, and issued City and Colour's sixth studio album, A Pill for Loneliness, in 2019. Produced by Jacquire King, the LP was his fourth consecutive chart-topper in Canada. In 2022, Dallas Green began teasing the release of his next studio effort with the single "Meant to Be," which peaked at Number 44 on the Canadian rock charts. A second single titled "Underground" hit Number 31 on Canada's Alternative 30 in 2023. The songs were the first tracks to be pulled from City and Colour’s seventh album, The Love Still Held Me Near, which was scheduled to be released on March 31, 2023.
