The Venezuelan singer Corina Smith was born María Corina Smith Pocaterra in Caracas in 1991 and is the daughter of Venezuela's opposition party leader Roberto Smith Perera. Smith completed her higher education in the USA studying economics in Massachusetts before returning to Venezuela in 2014 where she is now based. Her career as an actress began when she was 18 after she secured a role playing a cheerleader in a Latin American teen TV series. Smith made a name for herself playing various other teenage characters and she became a familiar face on Venezuelan TV building up a significant following amongst young audiences. In 2015 she launched her solo singing career with her debut single 'La Difícil' followed up by 'Vitamin B' in 2016. Smith's parallel career as a singer has been a great success and she is extremely popular with young Latin American music fans and her videos accrue tens of millions of hits on social media. Her single 'No Somos Nada', a collaboration with Kevin Roldan which came out in early 2020 received almost four million views on YouTube within a week of its release.
