Country Girls

Country Girls, originally known as Country Musume, is a Japanese female idol group that originated in 1999 as part of Hello! Project. The group was initially formed with members from Hokkaidō, including Rinne Toda, Azusa Kobayashi, and Hiromi Yanagihara. Tragedy struck before their first single release when Yanagihara died in a car accident. Kobayashi soon left, and Toda continued as a solo act under the group's name. The group would go on to expand and shrink its roster, and in 2001 they had their first charting single, "Hajimete no Happy Birthday." By 2003, the group evolved with new members Miuna Saito, Mai Satoda, Asami Konno, and Miki Fujimoto, releasing several singles and albums. Country Musume saw several graduations and lineup changes, leaving Mai Satoda as the sole member until the group's initial disbandment in 2009. In 2014, the group was rebooted as Country Girls with new members and Momoko Tsugunaga as their playing manager. They released their first single as Country Girls, "Itōshikutte Gomen ne / Koi Dorobō," in 2015. The group continued to release singles and perform, gaining success with "Wakatteiru no ni Gomen ne / Tamerai Summer Time" and "Boogie Woogie LOVE / Koi wa Magnet / Ranrarun Anata ni Muchuu." Despite member changes and graduations, Country Girls continued to perform and release music. Their 2017 album Momoko Tsugunaga Idol Jyugoshunen kinen Album♡Arigatou Otamomochi♡ (嗣永桃子アイドル15周年記念アルバム♡ありがとう おとももち♡) peaked at number 19 on the Korean charts. However, in November 2019, it was announced that the group would suspend activities, with a final performance held on December 26, 2019.
