Curse, real name Michael Sebastian Kurth, was born in Minden on September 6, 1978. He is one of the best-known German rappers and has also established himself as a systemic coach, author and podcaster over the course of his career. He celebrated his breakthrough in 2000 with the album Feuerwasser, which contained profound and reflective lyrics and made him known as a lyrically adept rapper. With hits such as "Wahre Liebe" and "Lass uns doch Freunde sein", he also gained attention beyond the hip-hop scene. His most successful albums include Von Innen nach Außen (2001), which reached number 9 in the German charts, and Die Farbe von Wasser (2018), which reached number 2. in 2024, he released his album Unzerstörbarer Sommer, which also reached high chart positions and further cemented his return to the music scene. Curse was also known for his collaborations with international artists such as Black Thought (The Roots) and Pete Rock, as well as German greats such as Samy Deluxe and Max Herre. Alongside his musical career, he dedicated himself to coaching and in 2018 published the book Imagine Waking Up, which became a bestseller.
