Fitting in perfectly with the soaring, emotional power ballads of the 1980s, (I Just Died) In Your Arms by soft rock quartet Cutting Crew was one of the big, anthemic hits of the era. Frontman Nick Van Eede was originally discovered by The Animals' bassist Chas Chandler and toured the world as a support act for Slade, David Essex and Hot Chocolate, before meeting Canadian guitarist Kevin Macmichael in Toronto. Back in London they formed Cutting Crew together. Van Eede wrote (I Just Died) In Your Arms, a single that paved their way after storming to number four in the UK Singles Chart and later reached number one in both Canada and the US. After the success of their first album Broadcast, they failed to replicate the achievement in subsequent albums, leaving Van Eede willing to write and produce for other artists, meanwhile Macmichael played on Robert Plant's album Fate Of The Nation. Macmichael died in 2002 of lung cancer, but Cutting Crew continue to perform with Gareth Moulton on guitar and released their fifth album Add To Favourites in 2015.
