Daniel Harding

Daniel Harding (b. Oxford, 1975) has distinguished himself as one of the leading conductors of his generation. A trumpeter with the National Youth Orchestra at the age of 13, he became Simon Rattle's assistant at the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra in 1993, then Claudio Abbado's at the Berlin Philharmonic. The youngest conductor at the London Proms (1996), he went on to lead the Trondheim Symphony Orchestra, the Bremen Philharmonic Chamber Orchestra, the Mahler Chamber Orchestra, the London Symphony Orchestra and the Orchestre de Paris after his appointment in 2015. His repertoire, comprising numerous concertos for violin, cello and piano, symphonic works and operas, ranges from the Romantic period to the contemporary (Britten, El-Khoury, Widmann). The English conductor, a regular guest at the Aix-en-Provence Festival, was awarded a Diapason d'or for his 2015 performance of Schumann's Faust Scenes .
