Growing up in rural Australia listening to classical music and trying to imitate Boyz II Men records, Daniel Merriweather's initial forays into the music industry came in 2003 when he featured on Mark Ronson's album Here Comes The Fuzz. Moving to New York he signed to Ronson's new label Allido and had an Australian hit with debut single City Rules featuring MC Saigon; but it was his contribution on Ronson's 2007 album Version that really signalled his breakthrough. His guest vocal on Ronson's cover of The Smiths' Stop Me If You've Heard This One Before helped send the single to No 2 in the UK charts and established him as a rising star. Solo album Love & War showcased a smooth, soulful, crooning pop approach, making it to No 2 in the album charts, spawning the Top 10 singles Change and Red. Merriweather has supported Kanye West and Justin Timberlake and played at the 2008 BRIT Awards.
