Dave Mustaine is a heavy metal singer and guitarist from southern California who was a member of the band Metallica in the early 1980s before they found recording success. A colourful and tempestuous character, he was fired before the band achieved fame but in 1983 he formed Megadeath which went on to become one of the major thrash metal acts in America with hit albums 'Endgame' (2009) and 'Dystopia' (2016), which won a Grammy Award for Best Metal Performance after eleven previous nominations. Known for his brushes with illicit substances and alcohol and a lively temper, he has veered widely in politics and religion and made controversial statements that have caused outrage, but the band managed to maintain its international popularity. They released a remastered version of their debut album, 'Killing Is My Business and Business Is Good! The Final Kill' in 2018.
