Born in France and raised partly in Israel, saxophonist David El-Malek blows an oriental wind into jazz. An accomplice of Baptiste Trotignon and Pierre de Bethmann, David El-Malek began his solo career with Organza in 2001. Talking Cure (2003), 4tet (2005) with Baptiste Trotignon and Fool Time (2007) followed, before David El-Malek imposed his vision of jazz with Hebraic origins with Music from Source in 2008. Music from Souce isn't just the title of an album, it's also the name of an association that supports and encourages David El-Malek's work. Now a prominent saxophonist of the new jazz generation, David El-Malek follows up Music from Source with Music from Source II in September 2012.
