David McAlmont

David McAlmont is a British singer-songwriter and art historian renowned for his soulful vocals and ability to work outside of genre confines. Born on 2 May 1967 in Croydon, London, he first gained prominence in the 1990s as part of the duo McAlmont & Butler, alongside guitarist Bernard Butler. Their hit 1995 single "Yes" showcased David McAlmont's soaring voice and dynamic range, quickly becoming a staple of the era. With a solo career that spans multiple albums, he released his debut album McAlmont in 1994, blending elements of soul and pop, and went on to collaborate with Bernard Butler again in 2002 for the Bring it Back album. He also worked with composer Michael Nyman in 2009 for the Glare and has also collaborated with Scottish electronic producer HiFi Sean on several releases, most recently Daylight in 2024.
