The British neo-soul singer known as Greentea Peng was born Aria Wells on December 1st, 1994 in Bermondsey, South London. She grew up in a musical household and started singing at her local church choir. During her teenage years, she began writing her own songs and performing live at local venues. After a series of trips to Peru and Mexico, she adopted the stage name Greentea Peng and returned to London, where she met her producer, Earbuds. Together, they recorded her debut EP Sensi (2018), which dealt with the aftermath of a breakup and featured influences from hip-hop, dub, and reggae. Preceded by the singles “Downers” and “Mister Sun (Miss da Sun)," her second EP Rising saw the light in 2019. Following a guest spot on The Street’s “I Wish You Loved You as Much as You Love Him,” she made her first appearance on the legendary music television show Later… with Jools Holland to present her single “Hu Man” (2020). This was followed by the release of “Revolution” (2020), a reggae-tinged track written in response to the effects of the coronavirus pandemic throughout the world. Man Made, Greentea Peng’s proper studio debut, came out in 2021 and included the singles “Kali V2” and “Dingaling.”
