André Chapelas, better known by his stage name Dillaz, is a Portuguese rapper born in the city of Zambujeiro in 1993. Raised in the neighborhood of Madorna, he had a troubled childhood and found solace in hip hop. His first mixtape, Sagrada Família Vol. 1 came out in 2011 and was followed by a second instalment titled Sagrada Família Vol. 2 in 2013. Slowly but surely, Dillaz rose to the forefront of the booming hip hop tuga scene thanks to his flawless flow and strong social media presence. In 2014, he dropped a collaborative EP with Spliff titled Cria Actividade. Reflexo, his studio debut, arrived in 2016 and propelled Dillaz’s popularity to new heights. Featuring a distinct Latin flavor, the album became an instant underground classic and featured his breakout single “Mo Boy,” as well as the fan favorites “Estou Bem” and “Pula ou Levas Bléu.” After a much-publicized beef with rappers Holly Hood, Piruka, and 9 Miller, Dillaz returned with the diss tracks “O Clima” (2017) and “1100 Cegonhas” (2018). In subsequent years, the Portuguese rapper steered away from the gangsta rap sound of his early work in favor of a trap-inspired aesthetic, as evident by the singles “Galileu” (2020) and “Juvena” (2021), which reached Number 25 in Portugal.
