Dipha Kresna Aditya Barus (aka Dipha Barus, born on January 4th, 1986) is an Indonesian DJ and producer, regarded as a major figure in the Indonesian dance music scene. Barus’ work is a unique cocktail of pop, electronica, and traditional Indonesian sounds. Heavily influenced by drum ‘n’ bass and artists like Aphex Twin, he started producing his own music at the age of twelve. After pursuing a career in graphic design in Malaysia, Barus decided to return to Indonesia to focus on his music. He rose to prominence after releasing “No One Can Stop Us,” (2015) a collaboration with singer Kallula that received heavy airplay on Indonesian radios and topped the charts in his home country. After touring throughout Southeast Asia and the US, Barus joined up-and-coming rappers A. Nakaya, Matter Mos, and Ramengvrl for “Decide,” (2017) a sleek trap single that solidified his reputation as an A-list producer. In 2018, he co-wrote the song “My Kind of Crazy” with pop singer Raisa, a lo-fi hip-hop beat with soulful vocals that peaked at Number 27 on the Indonesia Top 40. “You Move Me,” his 2019 collaboration with R&B singer Monica Karina, was premiered by Billboard Dance and released on July 19th via ULTRA Records.
