Dismember

Dismember's brutal, booming form of death metal earned the Swedish group an international audience during the 1990s and 2000s, when albums like Like an Ever Flowing Stream and Indecent & Obscene charted in both Germany and Poland. The group launched in 1988 in Stockholm, Sweden, with drummer Fred Estby, lead guitarist David Blomqvist, rhythm guitarist Robert Sennebäck, and bassist Erik Gustafsson forming the original lineup. Richard Cabeza replaced Gustafsson in 1990, with vocalist Matti Kärki joining the roster in time for Dismember's 1991 debut, Like an Ever Flowing Stream. The album reached number 50 in Germany and number 76 in Poland, despite the controversy surrounding the song "Skin Her Alive." Indecent & Obscene followed in 1992, featuring the International single "Dreaming in Red." (Upon its reissue in 2023, Indecent & Obscene would chart even higher than the band's debut, hitting number 49 in Germany and number 70 in Poland.) 1995's Massive Killing Capacity found the found softening its sound, although 1997's Death Metal reverted back to the aggressive sound of the band's roots. 2000's Hate Campaign, 2004's Where Ironcrosses Grow, and 2006's The God That Never Was were all produced by the band's own drummer, Fred Estby, who left the lineup in 2007 and did not appear on Dismember's final album, the self-titled Dismember, in 2008. The group's classic lineup reunited onstage in 2018, prompting rumors of a comeback album during the coming years.
