DJ Kayz is a French-Algerian disc-jockey, mostly known for his compilation series and his numerous collaborations with French rappers. Born in the region of Kabylia in 1980, he began mixing music in the mid-90s inspired by Moroccan DJ Cut Killer and rose to fame with the 2003 compilation Funk Raï Summer Show, which incorporated elements from raï, a very popular type of Algerian folk music. Between 2007 and 2012, DJ Kayz remained active in the scene with the Oran Mix Party series, as well as the 2011 mixes Kabylifornie. Mainstream success finally arrived in 2014 when the second volume of his album Paris Oran New York reached Number 14 on the French charts thanks to the H Magnum and Maître Gims-featured single "Du Swagg." The album also included collaborations with Jul, Rim'K, L'Algérino, and Ridsa. Featuring cameos by Mister You ("Jugni Ji"), Farid & Oussama ("Mariage Dérangé"), and Axel Tony ("Validé"), a third volume saw the light in 2015 peaked at Number 9 in France. In 2016, the single "Com'dab," included in his eponymous full-length, climbed to Number 150 on the French Singles Chart. In the following years, DJ Kayz cracked the French Top 10 once again with En Famille (2018) and released an album titled En Team in 2021.
