Dodo Gad is best known as the lead singer of Dodo and the Dodos, one of Denmark's best-selling pop groups of all time. She was born as Maria Charlotte Gad in Copenhagen on December 15, 1962, and formed Dodo and the Dodos in 1986. That same year, she appeared on "Re-Sepp-Ten," a song written for the Danish football team in celebration of their participation in the 1986 FIFA World Cup. "Re-Sepp-Ten" became one of Denmark's most popular songs of the late-1980s, while also peaking at Number 3 on the singles charts in both Norway and Sweden. The song's international success helped boost Dodo and the Gads' popularity back home, and the group scored a number of hits with albums like 1987's Dodo and the Gads, 1988's Dodo & The Dodos 2, and 1989's English-language Dodo & The Dodos, Engelsksproget Album. "Vågner i natten," "Sømand af verden," "Vi gør det vi ka' li," "Lev livet nu," and "Pigen med det røde hår" all became popular singles on the Danish charts, and Dodo Gad remained in the spotlight with 1990's Dodo & The Dodos 3 and 1992's Dodo & The Dodos 4. During the decade's final stretch, she recorded another song for Denmark's national football team, "Vi vil ha' sejren i land." The song was released in 1998 and was followed by yet another sports anthem, "Ren Fysik & Kærlighed," in 2009. Three year later, "Re-Sepp-Ten" climbed its way up the Danish charts once again, peaking at Number 24 in conjunction with the Danish team's participation in the Euro Cup 2012.
