German singer Dominique Lacasa followed her parents—the GDR popstars Frank Schöbel and Aurora Lacasa—into showbiz, making her debut in the 1985 Christmas special aged nine along with her sister Odette and releasing the best-selling album Weihnachten in Familie (Christmas with Family) that same year. She gained prominence as a singer in the 1980s and 1990s, keeping the festive tradition alive on follow-up album Fröhliche Weihnachten in Familie (Happy Christmas with Family), issued shortly before her parents' divorce, before forming pop duo Two is One with Marcus Fritzsch in 1994. After building their reputation through various tours, the duo released their debut album Breathe on Playground Records in 2001. Meanwhile, Dominique Lacasa took on some classical and jazz training that ultimately led her to record the theme tune for the hit ARD television series Berlin, Berlin alongside Martin Frisch. Two is One continued to release albums throughout the 2000s, creating the Abbafieber (ABBA Fever) project in 2004, which they toured throughout Europe until the couple's break up in 2008 when she branched out as a solo artist with her debut LP for Zett Records, Go My Way. The follow-up came in 2009, Solamente Nosotros with Formación Alcántara, and she went on to take her music all over the world at live shows and tours, making stops everywhere from New Zealand to Alaska, usually with jazz bassist Tobias Kabiersch in tow. During the 2010s, Dominique Lacasa issued several German pop singles and other releases, including 2015 EP Mit einem Lächeln and 2018 Christmas album Weihnach.
