Donald Lawrence

One of the most popular artists in contemporary gospel music, Donald Lawrence is the director of The Tri-City Singers. Born in Gastonia, North Carolina, on May 4, 1961, he took up the vacant post of musical director of The Tri-City Singers in 1990, turning it into a leading contemporary gospel group, celebrated in the charts with several hits. After several group albums, he embarked on a solo career in 2004 with I Speak Life, which proved a major success, winning no less than six Stellar Awards in 2006, including Artist and Producer of the Year. The Verity Records album features collaborations with Donnie McClurkin, Faith Evans, Hezekiah Walker, Richard Smallwood and Carl Thomas. Returning with The Tri-City Singers for the two volumes of Finale: Act One and Finale: Act Two, he returned solo in 2009 with The Law of Confession, Part 1, followed by YRM (Your Righteous Mind) in 2011 and Best for Last: 20 Year Clebration - Vol. 1, (2013), captured live. In 2014, his other band's compilation, The Best of Donald Lawrence & Co. was released. Both solo and in collaboration, Donald Lawrence produces several singles, including "Words" (2024), which reaches #30 on the Gospel Ariplay charts.
