The Texas-born guitarist, songwriter and producer Doyle Bramhall II was born in 1968. His father, the late Doyle Bramhall, was a highly respected drummer and songwriter who was at the heart of the vibrant music scene in Austin and worked with artists such as Stevie Ray Vaughan. His father's musical influence clearly rubbed off on Bramhall II who during his successful career has collaborated with a truly astonishing list of clients. The artists on whose albums Bramhall has worked either as a guitarist or a producer includes Elton John, Eric Clapton, Roger Waters, Sheryl Crow, B.B. King, Greg Allman, Willie Nelson and many more. Bramhall has an unusual and distinctive playing style. Being a southpaw he plays a left handed guitar but has it strung upside down and this has an influence on the tone when bending notes because the strings are pulled downwards rather than pushed up. Other guitarists who have employed this technique include Albert King, Jeff Healey and Barbara Lynn. In 2013, Bramhall produced Clapton's 'Old Sock' and also played guitar on his 2014 release 'The Breeze: An Appreciation of JJ Cale'. In 2015 he joined the Tedeschi Trucks Band and Sharon Jones & the Dap Kings on the Wheels of Soul tour which took them across America. In 2016 he released his fourth studio album 'Rich Man'.
