In 2011, Frankfurt-raised rapper Mimoun Alaoui (born on August 12, 1985) aka Dú Maroc switched lanes from professional football to hip-hop after suffering a serious injury. He released his debut album, Narkotic, the following year, and made an impact on the German music charts. The gangsta rap artist, who is of Moroccan descent, was inspired by his childhood friend Sadiq to try his hand at music and so far has garnered a solid German fanbase.
