Dueljewel

Vocalist Hayato, guitarist Takashi, bassist Psy, drummer Shun, and guitarist Shun formed the visual kei band DuelJewel in January 1997. Based in Tokyo, Japan, the band went through multiple personnel changes during its infancy, with Hayato leaving the lineup and returning by the time DuelJewel released its full-length debut album, Lapidary, in 2001. A second album, Noah, followed one year later. Although singles like 2003's "Vermilion" and 2005's "The Birth" failed to chart, DuelJewel found a home on the Oricon Singles chart with 2006's "Azure," which climbed to number 79. "Aishuu Melancholia" was released that same year and also charted, peaking at number 49. 2007's "Es," 2008's "Lolite," and 2011's "Vamp Ash" all reached the Top 100, too. Although the chart placements of DuelJewel's albums failed to rival the band's success on the singles chart, the band did break into the Top 100 of the Oricon Albums Chart several times during the 2010s, with 2011's Luminous hitting number 88, 2014's Story hitting number 59, and 2019's ZINCITE reaching number 72. Although the Covid-19 pandemic briefly slowed the band's output, DuelJewel returned during the summer of 2022 with Trigger, then released another studio record, Flare, in September 2023. Flare returned the group to the Top 100, where the album debuted at number 94.
