Founded in Brisbane in 2010, Dune Rats are an Australian rock band formed by Danny Beus (guitar/lead vocals), BC Michael Marks (drums) and Brett Jansch (bass). Originally playing local shows with friends, the group released EPs Sexy Beach and Social Atoms in February and September, 2011 respectively. Releasing their self-titled debut album Dune Rats on May 30, 2014, the band was invited to perform on the Australian festival circuit, with their second album The Kids Will Know It’s Bullshit released in 2017, debuting at number 1 on the charts and nominated for Best Rock Album at the 2017 ARIA Awards. In 2019, the band travelled to California to record their third album Hurry Up and Wait, released on January 31, 2020, once again taking the number 1 position on the charts. Finishing their sold-out tour only a week prior to the COVID-19 lockdown in March 2020, the band spent the next few months in isolation writing new material, releasing punk anthem “What a Memorable Night” in February 2022 and collaborating with Australian band Ocean Grove on their joint single “Bored” before releasing their fast-paced party album Real Rare Whale on July 29, 2022.
