Formed in 2014, Polish Club is an Australian rock duo hailing from Sydney, New South Wales. Drummer John-Henry Pajak and guitar-playing vocalist David Novak attended the same high school and began working together several years after graduation, independently issuing their self-titled Polish Club EP in 2015. Songs like "Able" and "Beeping" introduced the group's blend of garage-rock, soul, and punk, which helped earn Polish Club a contract with Universal Music Australia. With major-label backing, the band turned its cult following into a national audience upon the release of Polish Club's debut album, Alright Already, in 2017. Nominated for "Best Rock Album" at the 2017 ARIA Awards, Alright Already peaked at Number 19 in Australia and earned comparisons to mainstream rock-influenced duos like the Black Keys and the White Stripes. A second album, Iguana, followed in 2019 and charted at Number 20, thanks in part to the success of the popular single "Clarity." Two years later, Polish Club reached a new peak on the Australian charts with the band's third album, Now We're Cookin', which climbed to Number 8. The album widened the group's sonic palette, mixing Pajak and Novak's guitar-and-drums foundation with the new additions of '80s synthesizers and buoyant pop hooks.
