Dying Fetus' first album, 'Purification Through Violence', was released in 1996 but unfortunately the band's label collapsed soon after and the band were left without a recording deal. Numerous line-up changes followed and the band struggled to make any significant impact on the death metal scene until they signed to Relapse Records. The band's 2009 release 'Descend Into Depravity' charted at number four in the US Heat Charts and their 2012 follow-up 'Reign Supreme' managed to go one higher and make it into the top three. An Internet campaign which started out as an ironic tongue-in-cheek protest to persuade the organisers of the Download Festival to book the band actually worked in the band's favour and they secured a spot on the main stage at the 2013 event. In 2017 they released their eighth album 'Wrong One to F**k With'.
