Pablo Díaz-Reixa is a musician, producer and DJ who takes his stage name of El Guincho from a bird native to the Canary Islands. He began his career as a drummer in a band called Coconuts in Barcelona, where he was studying, but soon went solo. He lived in France for a year before returning to Barcelona where he infused African and Arabic influences with hip-hop, techno and other Western sounds. His first LP came out in 2007 but failed to make an impact. He produced his second LP, 'Alegranza' in 2008. The album used a lot of sample sounds and loops and called back to his roots and childhood musical influences of Tropicália and Afrobeat, launching him into wider public appreciation. Since then he has produced two further LPs and EPs but since 2016 he has concentrated on production.
