Born in Ann Arbor, Michigan, on November 10, 1989 to parents originally from Taiwan, Tim Heng Wu made a name for himself as a DJ and electro producer under the pseudonym Elephante. He learned to play guitar and piano, then studied economics at Harvard, before finally embracing a career in music. Based in Los Angeles, he specialized in remixing titrres on the assembly line for artists as diverse as Katy Perry, Lorde, The Chainsmokers, Calvin Harris, Afrojack, Clean Bandit, Jack Ü, Jason Derulo, Zedd and Bebe Rexha, before going solo in 2016 with the EP I Am the Elephante. In 2018, Glass Mansion sees him surrounded by new voices, notably on the hit "The In Between" with Anjulie (#8 on the dance charts), while in turn, he hands over the task of remixing his tracks to other producers on Glass Mansion (Remixes). His first album, Heavy Glow, was released in 2021 on the Zoo Music label, and this time featured instrumental pieces, including one signed with composer Keeley Bumford aka Dresage. In 2023, his collaboration with singer Haliene led to the track "Hollow" (no. 31 in the dance charts) and in 2024, the single "Say It Like You Mean It" with Sabai opened the Cope album, which also featured the track "Taste of Your Tongue" with Babyidontlikeyou (no. 24 in the dance charts). Like its predecessor, Cope is the subject of a remix album released in January 2025.
