Emmanuelle

Born in Paris on July 19, 1963, Emmanuelle Mottaz, or simply Emmanuelle, is best known for her teen hits, including "Premier baiser". Noticed by the AB Productions label, which produces youth programs starring Dorothée, she began her singing career with the song "Je t'appelle de Macao" (1985), before lending her voice to the computer in Dorothée's song "Allô, allô, monsieur l'ordinateur". Her breakthrough came with the ballad "Premier baiser", which reached No. 2 in the Top 50 in 1986, and preceded a debut album of the same name. The following year saw the release of "Rien que toi pour m'endormir", which gave Emmanuelle another major hit at No. 3, and paved the way for a second album featuring "Et si un jour" and "Ce n'est qu'un voyou". The singer, who frequently appeared on Club Dorothée and other shows such as the series Pas de pitié pour les croissants, took part in the Dorothée Christmas Show in 1987. She then distanced herself from her teenage singer image with the albums Tu Seras à Mes Pieds (1989), whose homonymous track reached No. 43, and Aquarelles et Jeunes Filles (1992), released by the Stiger Records label set up by AB Productions boss Jean-Luc Azoulay, who wrote most of the tracks under the pseudonyms Fitzgerald Artman or Jean-François Porry, along with composer Gérard Salesses. In 1990, the singer appeared on stage for the first time, supporting Dorothée on a tour of China. She took part in the musical Le Cadeau de la rentrée (1992) before retiring from singing to work as a scriptwriter on the new teen series Hélène et les garçons, Le Miel et les abeilles and Premier baisers, which used her success in the credits. She then turned her attention to writing and directing short films, and to photography. On March 16, 2023, Emmanuelle Mottaz died at the age of 59.
