Emmelie de Forest was born in Denmark in 1993. Performing from a young age, she got her big break at the age of 20 in 2013 when she won the Eurovision Song Contest with her song 'Only Teardrops'. Her debut album of the same name was released a week before the competition and earned her a number four position on the Danish Albums Chart. After the whirlwind of Eurovision, de Forest released her follow-up single 'Rainmaker'. 'Drunk Tonight' was the first single to be released from her second album. She performed it for the first time at Amsterdam Pride in 2014 before revealing that she was co-writing the United Kingdom's Eurovision song for 2017, titled 'Never Give Up On You'. Although only placing 15th in the competition when sung by Lucie Jones, the song renewed de Forest's talent and she released her second album 'History' shortly after.
