The product of a merger between mass media giants CJ E&M and Big Hit Entertainment, Enhypen is a South Korean K-Pop boy band, assembled through the 2020 survival reality show I-Land. Auditions for the show began in March 2019 as 23 male trainees were recruited to participate in the competition, which was broadcasted locally via music channel Mnet and also internationally via Big Hit Entertainment’s video streaming platform. Only seven idols made it to the grand finale, consolidating the group’s definitive lineup: Heeseung, Jay, Jake, Sunghoon, Sunoo, Jungwon, and Ni-ki. The name Enhypen was revealed during I-Land’s final episode and a teaser announcing the band’s debut was posted to their video streaming channel in November 2020 as they racked up millions of followers on social media. By the time it came out, Border: Day One (2020) had already sold over 300,000 copies, with its lead single “Given-Taken” reaching number 26 on the American streaming charts. Their debut EP reached number 2 on the Gaon charts as well as in Japan’s Oricon chart and Billboard Japan’s Hot 100, setting the stage for a second EP titled Border: Carnival, released in 2021. Besides topping the charts in both South Korea and Japan, Border: Carnival also achieved pole position on the Billboard World Albums Chart in the US. That same year, ENHYPEN crossed over into the Japanese market with the maxi-single “Border: Hakanai,” which contained Japanese versions of the earlier singles “Given-Taken” and “Let Me In (20 Cube).” Their highly anticipated full-length debut Dimension: Dilemma arrived shortly after, reaching number 1 in Japan and South Korea, and number 11 on the Billboard 200. In 2022, they repeated the feat with the reissue Dimension: Answer, which also shot straight to the top of Billboard’s World Albums chart. Manifesto: Day 1, their third EP, also hit the shelves in 2022 and was followed by a vampire-themed third extended play titled Dark Blood in 2023. Preceded by the single "Bite Me," Dark Blood was a massive success, peaking at Number 1 on both the Circle and the Oricon charts. After a wildly successful tour throughout the US and many Asian countries, Twice unveiled their second Korean full-length Romance: Untold, which topped the Circle Albums Chart in South Korea and peaked at number 2 on the Billboard 200.
