Born in Husnes, Kvinnherad, Norway on October 27, 1991, emo pop and rock singer Erland Bratland is best known for winning the television talent contest Norske Talenter (Norway’s Got Talent) in 2008. He began his career at the age of 13, performing in musical stage productions. Moving to Hugesund to pursue a career in management, he shifted his focus to music career. In 2008, he auditioned for Norske Talenter and made the main rounds. He soon became an audience favorite. During the finals, he sang “Lost”, written by Dutch singer and songwriter Anouk. With his performance of that song, Erland Bratland won the contest with 36% of the vote. Shortly after this triumph, the single “Lost” was released, reaching Number 1 in the Norwegian charts. In October, 2008, he released his debut album True Colours, which reached Number 2 on the Norwegian Albums chart. The album’s second single, “Still Water”, was his second chart topping single. He was nominated for two 2008 Spellemannsprisen Awards (Norway’s equivalent to the Grammy Awards): Best New Artist and Song of the Year (“Lost”). After a busy schedule of promotional appearances and tours, Erlend Bratland, stepped away from the spotlight in 2010. He moved to Bergen and pursued a career in hairdressing. He returned to recording and released two singles – “Silent Sister” (2014) and “Thunderstruck” (2015) – but has continued his career as a full-time hairdresser.
