Erste Allgemeine Verunsicherung (short: EAV) is a pop-rock band from Austria founded in 1977. The name alludes to the former Austrian insurance company Erste Allgemeine Versicherung. the debut album 1. Allgemeine Verunsicherung was released in 1978. The first successes only came in the mid-1980s. The big breakthrough came in 1985 with the album Geld Oder Leben. The album becomes a number 1 hit in Austria and goes quintuple platinum. The album also climbed to number 10 in Germany and even reached number 3 in Switzerland. The songs "Ba-Ba-Banküberfall" and "Märchenprinz" (number 1 in Austria) became hits. The next album is even more successful. Liebe, Tod & Teufel is released in 1987 and becomes a number 1 hit in Austria and Switzerland. With "Küss' die Hand, schöne Frau" and "An der Copacabana", Erste Allgemeine Verunsicherung once again scored two hits. The 1990 album Neppomuk's Rache also becomes a hit, reaching number 1 in Austria once again. The songs "Ding Dong" and "Samurai" reach top positions in the German-language charts. In the following years, the band regularly released number 1 albums in their home country. However, Erste Allgemeine Verunsicherung can no longer match the success of the 1980s. Their 17th studio album, Alles Ist Erlaubt, is released in 2018. On September 14, 2019, Erste Allgemeine Verunsicherung gave one last live concert in the Wiener Stadthalle. This is followed by the live album 1000 Jahre EAV - Abschiedstour. The band then announces its dissolution. In 2021, Erste Allgemeine Verunsicherung send a sign of life once again with the Christmas album EAVliche Weihnachten - Ihr Sünderlein Kommet.
