The Italian band Extraliscio first began to take shape in 2014 in Emilia-Romagna when the eclectic-minded Mirco Mariani met clarinetist Moreno il Biondo. They were joined by Moreno Conficconi, a celebrated composer of traditional liscio ballroom music. The trio fused the liscio sound with with the energy of punk rock and quickly grew a fanbase playing in clubs throughout Italy. Extraliscio released their debut album, Canzoni da ballo in 2016. They followed that up the next year with Imballabilissimi – Ballabilissimi. They joined forces with Elisabetta Sgarbi, the renowned arts and culture figure for 2020’s Punk da balera, with Elisabetta Sgarbi directing a film about the band that was released in conjunction with the album. They were back in 2021 with È bello perdersi, and scored a chart hit with “Bianca Luce Nera” from that LP.
