Fairuz Hussein is a Malaysian R&B/Jazz singer, songwriter and producer born on October 12, 1965, in Kuala Lumpur. After gaining recognition when her talent was discovered by producer Adnan Abu Hassan while singing at the Holiday Inn, she released her first EP titled Kali Pertama, in 1988 featuring popular singles like "Segala Cinta Ini" and "Lembayung Sepi." This paved the way for her debut album, Fairuz Hussein, in 1989, followed by Pilihan Terbaik Fairuz Hussein in 1990. In 1991, Hussein and her husband founded Ghetto Music Production as a publishing house for their songs, over time expanding their venture, opening a recording studio in 2003. They released two singles, "Let's Dance" and "Ketenangan Abadi," later followed by 2004 record Anugerah with album single "Yamano Ima" recognised as a finalist in the USA Songwriting competition in 2005. Hussein also released the EP Definisi in 2004, followed by a collaboration album titled Hits Terbaik with Ning Baizura, featuring their respective popular songs. Apart from her music career, Hussein has made appearances as a vocal educator on the reality TV show Studio Bintang Kecil and served as a professional jury member for the Malaysian tour of Akademi Fantasia (season 8) in 2010. She also created and produced the reality TV show Geng Bakat in 2012 and the sitcom/art show Eco Pintar in 2013, featuring artists Erul AF and Intan Farhani Fadzil. Hussein has released several non-album singles over the years, such as "Nights in Barcelona" (2020), "Antara Seribu" (2021), "All I Ask" (2022), "Anthology" (2022), and "Bella Horizonata" (2023). In June 2023, her 1988 single "Segala Cinta" experienced a resurgence, reaching number 40 on the charts, reflecting her enduring popularity in the music industry.
