Fanie Fayar

Singer, multi-instrumentalist and dancer, Fani Davia alias Fanie Fayar was born on September 7, 1982 in Brazzaville, Congo. Every evening, she sang in the streets of her neighborhood at sunset, before joining the group La Colombe in her church in 1996, at the age of 14. There, with her trainer Sylvain Scafio, she learned the techniques of singing, and eventually joined a number of groups, including Yela Wa. With Yela Wa, she learned to play traditional instruments such as the sanza, ndara, balafon and tam-tam. With Yela Wa, she took part in the Marché du spectacle Africain, in Abidjan, in 2001. She then toured with the group Widikila. She reunited with Sylvain Scafio to form the group Ta Ndala, which took part in several editions of the FESPAM Pan-African Music Festival. With Nkota, where she is the only woman, she learns modern instruments, winning the Jury Prize and the Discovery Prize at the Tam-tam d'Or in 2007. She took a break from her career to devote herself to her children. She launched her solo career in 2015, creating a style she calls nsagi groove, a blend of traditional Congolese music with funk, pop, jazz or soul sounds, according to her whims. Her rich music is supported by a superb mezzo-soprano voice. In 2017, she won the Médaille d'Or de la chanson at the 8th Jeux de la Francophonie (Abidjan). In 2019, she releases her first solo album, Bo Yamba Ngai (meaning Please welcome me), supported by the eponymous single. In 2021, Fani releases two singles, " #Tosala" and "Faux jugement".
