Instinctive, undisciplined, provocative, drug-addled, depraved, out of the ordinary... The south London rock hooligans pile up the adjectives and seduce with their typically British morgue, as much as they provoke repulsion. Formed in 2011, the London-based sextet features singer Lias Saudi, guitarist Saul Adamczewski, guitarist Adam J Harmer, keyboardist Nathan Saudi, bassist Joseph Pancucci and drummer Dan Lyons. The band's alternative rock is a direct descendant of The Fall-esque post-punk and the hypnotic, unhealthy rock of the Velvet Underground. A debut album, Champagne Holocaust, and an EP shared with the band Taman Shud, earned them a good deal of critical acclaim in 2013. Its successor, Songs for Our Mothers, recorded in New York under the direction of Sean Lennon, was released in January 2016 on the band's own label, Without Consent. They moved to Domino for their third full-length offering Serfs Up! and bagged a Top 20 UK album. In 2024, the band re-emerged with a sophisticated new outlook that resulted in fourth album Forgiveness Is Yours, notably their first LP without founding member and guitarist Saul Adamczewski. The album cracked the UK Albums Chart at number 61.
