Ferocious Dog

Comprising current members Ken Bonsall (vocals, acoustic guitar), Jamie Burney (violin), Kyle Peters (electric guitar), Luke Grainger (percussion), Nick Wragg (bassist), and Sam Wood (banjo, mandolin, bouzouki, acoustic guitar, whistles, accordion), Ferocious Dog are a high-energy, folk-punk band from Warsop in Nottinghamshire. Originally forming as a three-piece (Ken Bonsall, Dan Booth on fiddle and Ian Wagstaff on the bodram/Irish drum in the late 1980s), they expanded to include Dave Drury (bass), Paul Newbury (drums), and Jimmy Carroll (guitar/banjo/penny whistle) and reconfigured their lineup in 2011, making their debut proper. Known for their electrifying live performances and anthemic blend of folk, punk, and Celtic influences, since forming in 2011, the band have carved out a unique space within the UK music scene, fusing traditional folk melodies with the rebellious spirit of punk rock, creating a sound that is as raucous as it is heartfelt. The band's self-titled debut album (2011), introduced their bold mix of infectious hooks and socially driven lyrics, quickly establishing them as a force to be reckoned with in the UK’s folk-punk scene. Their subsequent albums, such as From Without (2015), Fake News & Propaganda (2019), and The Hope (2021)—which gave them a number-one folk album in the UK—continued to build on their signature sound, expanding their fanbase and proving their ability to seamlessly mix political commentary with emotionally resonant storytelling. They released a new album, Kleptocracy, in 2024.
