Fidel Nadal is an Afro-Argentine musician musician, considered a pioneer of both Argentine Reggae and the underground punk/hardcore scenes. Born on October 4, 1965 in Buenos Aires, Argentina, Fidel Nadal was heavily influenced by blues, jazz, and reggae music growing up. In 1985 he started the band Todos Tus Muertos, a rasta-punk band that blended reggae, dub, and hip-hop influences with hardcore punk. The band signed to Universal Music in 1988. Todos Tus Muertos achieved international success in 1994 with the release of their album Dale Aborigen, which led to more acclaim and international touring. In 1996, Fidel Nadal formed the project Lumumba, a reggae band, with whom he released four albums. Both Lumumba and Todos Tus Muertos dissolved by the year 2000, leading Fidel Nadal to pursue a solo career. That year, he released his first solo album Canta Sobre Discos, followed by three albums in 2001: Cabeza Negra, Repatriación, and Selassiei I Dios Todopoderoso. He continued his prolific career throughout the 2000s, appearing on the cover of Rolling Stone Argentina in 2009. That same year, he scored the hit “International Love.” In 2011, Fidel Nadal was nominated for two Latin Grammys for Best Alternative Album (for Forever Together!) and Best Alternative Song for “Te Robaste Mi Corazón.”
