Findlay Brown

Born in York, England, in 1976, British songwriter Findlay Brown initially paid the bills as a bare-knuckle boxer before relocating to London and embracing a new career as a folk-pop solo artist. Inspired by alt-rock and psychedelic rock, he began releasing original material in 2006, including the debut single "Down Among the Dead Men" and the EP Losing the Will to Survive. His full-length debut, Separated by the Sea, arrived the following year, featuring the single "Come Home" — as heard in a long-running European commercial for MasterCard — and earning comparisons to classic folksingers like Nick Drake and Paul Simon. Love Will Find You followed in 2010, featuring a revised sound rooted in Phil Spector's wall-of-sound production and the Brill Building's pop melodies. Findlay Brown relocated to America that same year and wrote 2015's Slow Light while living in Brooklyn. A return to his folk-pop roots, Slow Light was almost entirely performed by Findlay Brown and his producer, Tobias Wilner. His residency in New York City was followed by yet another move, this time to a rural town outside Copenhagen, Denmark. There, Findlay Brown expanded his folksy horizons with 2018's Not Everything Beautiful Is Good and 2021's Being Young Is Getting Old.
