Fingathing

Fingathing is a dynamic UK-based electronic group who blend elements of hip-hop, funk, and experimental beats, creating a sound that is both innovative and groove-driven. Formed in 2000 by producer and DJ/turntablist Dan 'Peter Parker' Baxter, double bass player Simon 'Sneaky' Houghton, and visual artist Chris Cavetroll Drury, the group quickly established themselves as a unique force in the underground music scene. Their early work saw them combine intricate turntablism with catchy, bass-heavy rhythms, drawing influence from the underground UK hip-hop and electronic music scenes. Fingathing's music is characterized by its eclectic mix of jazz, soul, and breaks, with samples and live instrumentation weaving through the production. Known for their engaging and energetic live performances, the group has earned a loyal following in the UK and beyond, performing alongside artists such as DJ Shadow, the Herbaliser, and the Coldcut collective. The group released their 2 Player EP in 2000 and continued to dole out releases sporadically during the 2000s, culminating with the Return of the Thing EP in 2014. They disappeared from music-making after that before returning in January 2025 with new album G.
