Aaron Powell a.k.a. Canadian singer-songwriter Fog Lake makes music as hazy and evocative as his namesake; meandering lo-fi bedroom folk and rock that casts a gentle, soothing light. Born in Glovertown, Newfoundland, Canada in 1993, Powell first began experimenting with drone and DIY music at high school, sketching out pop and ambient tracks on 2012's There's a Spirit, There's a Soul compilation. His first official release as Fog Lake came the following year, 2013's pop-edged Farther Reaches, which was released independently and which helped Powell to drum up a following and interest from cassette-based DIY label Birdtapes, who put out his Holy Cross EP that same year. Powell's second full-length, Virgo Indigo, was released in 2014 on beloved Brooklyn imprint Orchid Tapes and embraced a spectral dream-pop sound. Powell's third full-length album, Victoria Park, arrived the following year. Dragonchaser landed in 2017 and Captain in 2018.
