Francissca Peter, born on September 6th, 1961 in Klang, Selangor, is a renowned Malaysian singer-songwriter having received over twenty Number 1 hits in the Malaysian music charts over the course of her career. She began her musical journey at a young age, actively participating in her school choir alongside schoolmate Royston Sta Maria, eventually teaming up in 1979 with duo, 'Roy & Fran,' with the two becoming an unbeatable act in the 1980s, culminating in the release of two successful LPs, Siapa Dia Sebelum Daku (1982) and Bersama Pertemuan Ini (1983) before Peter decided to embark on a solo career, releasing debut album, Komputer Muzik in 1984, followed by Aku Hanya Pendatang in 1985. Her third album, Sekadar Di Pinggiran (1986), marked a turning point in her career, seeing Peter win the first Malaysian song championship awards with the album's title track. The album also included hit song “Akulah Kekasihmu”, following this success with platinum-certified album Kau Bintangku, cementing her status as a music icon in Malaysia. With five platinum discs, two gold discs, and numerous awards to her name, Peter ventured to the United States in 1990 to explore new opportunities in the music industry. During her two years in Los Angeles, she worked with various well-known jazz artists, returning to Malaysia with her eighth album, Mawar Terpinggir, in 1992, followed by Captured by a Smile (1995), Setinggi Angkasa (1997), and Masih Merindu (2005), collaborating with former partner Royston Sta Maria on Sukma Rindu, released by Warner Music in 2010, featuring two never-before-released duets, “Manusia” and “Gunung Payung.” In 2022 Peter returned to the music scene two with two collections: Christmas Collection and Loving Me Some Standards.
