Funky Diamond 18

Funky Diamond 18, a dance and vocal unit formed by the collaboration of Kazuyoshi Kikkori, a member of Shonen Tai, and choreographer Papaya Suzuki, revolves around a disco concept. Their activities kicked off with the release of their mini-album PRIMEMAX on July 12, 2023, under Uncle Cinnamon Records. The name "PRIMEMAX" is a term coined by Kikkori, suggesting a peak or climax. Their debut was accompanied by a live tour, Funky Diamond 18 LIVE TOUR 2023 PRIMEMAX covering five performances across four cities. The CD's cover art was crafted by Emori Mamoru, an illustrator known for his work in the 1970s and a pioneer in Japan's disco scene. The album features tracks including a cover of "Koi no Telepathy—Just Lovin' You" previously released by Suzuki with another group twenty years ago, maintaining the original choreography by Sakami Seiji. They released another EP PLATONIX in 2024.
