Garou

Garou (born Pierre Garand in Sherbrooke, Canada, on June 26, 1972) was one of the leading figures of the generation of Quebec artists who flooded into France in the late 1990s, and immediately made a name for himself with his distinctive sound, becoming a major star in the French-speaking world on both sides of the Atlantic. Famous since the musical Notre-Dame de Paris and its iconic song "Belle" (1998), Garou went on to sign the album Seul in 2000, and enjoyed a prolific career that ranged from original and cover albums - Gentleman Cambrioleur in 2009 - to more personal records such as Version Intégrale (2010). 2012 sees the release of the soulful, bilingual Rhythm and Blues covers. With the same production team, but in a different register, Au Milieu de Ma Vie was released in 2013. At the end of 2014, the compilation Le Meilleur, the full-length La Collection and the album of Christmas songs, It's Magic, are released. Five years later, he pays tribute to the Tamla Motown soul label with the covers on the album Soul City. A member of the Les Enfoirés troupe since its inception in 1999, Garou continues to take part in annual shows and hosts several TV variety shows, including the Fête de la Musique concerts, when he is not honored in his turn in Gare au Garou, in 2018. Following the tribute album Garou Joue Dassin (2023), in 2023 he made his first tour of Quebec in ten years, then sang at the reopening of Notre-Dame Cathedral in Paris on December 7, 2024.
