The English folk-pop singer-songwriter George Ezra was born on June 7th, 1993 in Hertfordshire and studied music at the British and Irish Modern Music Institute in Bristol, with his musical style and distinctive voice owing more to the Mississippi delta than the home counties. After playing on the BBC Introducing Stage at Glastonbury Festival, he released his debut EP Did You Hear the Rain, which was playlisted by Radio 1. Interest in George Ezra's music began to grow and the single "Budapest" sold in significant numbers, eventually breaking into the European charts and being certified platinum. By the time he recorded his debut album Wanted On Voyage in 2014, he had built a significant fanbase who were eagerly awaiting its release and it reached the top of the UK charts, becoming the third best-selling album of that year. As a multiple nominee at various music industry awards, he quickly established himself as an important up-and-coming UK talent and dropped his second album, Staying at Tamara's, in 2018, gathering more steam with a nomination for British Album of the Year at the 2019 Brit Awards and his first UK number-one single for "Shotgun". With his career going from strength to strength, he scored another win that year, picking up the Brit Award for British Male Solo Artist. He turned in his third album Gold Rush Kid in 2022, which gave him his third consecutive UK number one, thanks in part to the success of singles "Anyone for You (Tiger Lily)" (number 12) and the title track, which went to number five.
