James Bay

James Bay was born in Hitchin, Hertfordshire (UK), on September 4, 1990. Influenced by American folk, rock and blues, he unveiled The Dark of the Morning EP in 2013. The following year, the single Let It Go reached number ten in the UK charts and put the spotlight on this young songwriter, guitarist and performer with a wide-ranging style, supporting Irishman Hozier on his US tour. The following track, "Hold Back the River", also the title of his third EP, reaches No.2 and sets the scene for the successful album Chaos and the Calm (2015), which reaches No.1 in the UK, is well placed throughout Europe and as far as the USA, where it reaches No.15. It includes the new singles "Scars", "If You Ever Want to Be in Love" and "Running". The success that accompanies these releases earns James Bay the BRIT Award for Best Male Artist and three Grammy Award nominations. In 2018, he returned in a more muscular and produced style with the track "Wild Love", followed by "Pink Lemonade" and "Us", taken from the second album Electric Light, produced by Paul Epworth. This maintains the high level of performance of its predecessor, reaching number two in the UK charts. In 2020, the singer and musician began recording his next opus, Leap, with producer Dave Cobb . But the Covid-19 pandemic hindered progress, and the album was not released until 2022. It reached fourth place in the best-seller charts, supported by the single "Chew on My Heart". A prolific artist, James Bay distilled new songs between folk and rock over the following years, such as "All My Broken Pieces", "Easy Distraction" and "Up All Night", where he was accompanied by the band The Lumineers and singer Noah Kahan, in preparation for the album Changes All the Time, which followed in 2024.
