Gérald Genty

For this iconoclast, music is a pretext for flying from absurd puns to paronomasia (his songs abound in homophonic expressions), which brings him closer to Boby Lapointe, Boris Vian and Devos, from whom he admits he draws his inspiration. Sponsored by Bénabar and Tryo at the start of his career, Gérald Gentil is the author of Humble Héros (2004) and Le Plus Grand Chanteur de Tout l'Etang, titles that are proof enough of his obsession with wordplay. In 2009, he released his third, more musically fleshed-out album, Nul Si Découvert, whose first single, " Tu n'es pas", should surprise those who see Gérald Genty as little more than a humorist.
