Gianni Morandi

Gianni Morandi, Gian Luigi Morandi in Italian, is a variety singer and actor born in Monghidoro, Italy, on December 11, 1944. When he wasn't helping his father sell Italian Communist Party newspapers, he worked as a shoemaker or as a confectionery salesman in a cinema, but it was music that fascinated Gianni Morandi as a child. He made his debut at the age of 18, in 1962, with the song "Andavo a Cento All'Ora". The years that followed saw him score one hit after another: Ritratto Di Gianni (No. 4 in Italy in 1965), Gianni Tre (No. 2 in 1966), Gianni Quattro. Un Mondo d'Amore (no. 1 in 1968), Gianni 5 (no. 2 in 1968), Gianni 6 (no. 1 in 1970). After unsuccessful attempts at a career in France, Gianni Morandi was given the opportunity to represent his country at the Eurovision Song Contest in 1970, where he presented "Occhi di Ragazza". He finished eighth in the competition. In 1987, he won the Sanremo Festival with "Si Può Dare Di Più". He participated several times, until 2022, when he presented "Apri Tutte le Porte", composed by Jovanetti, which earned him third place, just a few days before releasing "La Ola", his new single. Success has never eluded him, as each new album is a new success, from Bisogna Vivere (No. 3 in 2013) to D'Amore d'Autore (No. 8 in 2017), via Capitani Coraggiosi - Il Live, a public recording crowned number one in 2016 and ranked for fifty weeks in the Italian top charts, becoming a recording success after being a radio show and TV special. At the age of 80, Gianni Morandi remains active with the albums Evviva! in 2023 and L'attrazione in 2024. Now recurring guests, Jovanotti and Sangiovanni are joined on the latter by Lucio Dalla, Annalisa, disoc singer Amii Stewart and a cast featuring Alessandra Amoroso, Ariete, Bresh, Gaia, Naska, Gigi D'Alessio, J-Ax, Noemi, Paolo & Chiara, Tommaso Pardiso, Tredici Pietro and his son Marco Morandi on the track "C'era un ragazzo che come me".
