Hip hop group Girlkind, managed by Nextlevel Entertainment, debuted with five members—Sun J, Xeheun, Jikang, Medic Jin, and Ellyn, dropping their first digital single, "FANCI" on January 17, 2018, releasing their initial mixtape, Broccoli a few months later, before making history as the first K-pop girl group to perform in Bahrain at the 2018 Changwon K-POP World Festival. Revealing their new digital single, "S.O.R.R.Y" in May, followed by a video for Bolbbalgan4's "Travel" in June, Nextlevel Entertainment introduced a Girlkind sub-unit Girlkind XJR, featuring Xeheun and Jikang on August 19, 2018, however their first Mini Album, Life is Diamond, had a modest chart performance, coming in at number 75. In March 2020, Sun J temporarily stepped away from Girlkind to focus on studies and by the month's end, the group restructured as a four-member unit, releasing "Future (퓨쳐)" and "Psycho4U" in April and November, respectively. 2021 single "Good Vibes Only (이 분위기에 취해)" dropped in July, seeing the group tour Japan in April 2022, however, despite the group's popularity, Nextlevel Entertainment announced their disbandment on August 13, 2022.
