Gökhan Türkmen (born on September 1, 1983 in Istanbul, Turkey) is a Turkish singer. Taking up the guitar in 1997, Türkmen took voice lessons for a year after graduating from university, performing at local radio stations, before finding success with breakthrough single "Büyük İnsan" which received over 5 million views on YouTube. This was followed soon after with "Dön" and "Efkarlıyım" which collectively featured his 2008 album Büyük İnsan. In 2010, Türkmen released his second album Biraz Ayrılık, attracting considerable commercial success, collecting a Golden Butterfly Award for Best Debut by a Soloist. Two years later, he released his first five-track EP, Ara (2012), receiving an award for Most Streamed Song on the Radio at the 1st Turkey Music Award, for his hit single “Bitmesin”, which maintained a position in the top 5 on the Turkish Charts for 18 weeks. Türkmen’s success continued with the release of four albums between 2014 and 2020, including En Bastan (2014), Sessiz (2016) and Romantik (2020), picking up myriad awards during this time, including an award for Best Male Pop Music Artist at the 11th Radio Boğaziçi Music Awards. In 2020, Gökhan Türkmen performed several digital concerts for including a fundraising marathon to raise money for local healthcare workers. During this time, he worked on new music, releasing popular disco-funk album 7 in 2021, which also charted for many weeks. After touring extensively, Türkmen released two singles: “Mahşer” in April followed by “Seninle Ben” in June, 2022.
