Grupo Revelação

Grupo Revelação, a seminal Brazilian pagode ensemble, emerged from Rio de Janeiro's Engenho Novo neighborhood in 1991, rooted in the vibrant samba traditions of the GRES Arranco community. Their early performances in local samba circles, guided by musician Victor Stecca, laid the foundation for their authentic sound. With support from João Carlos Silva Filho of FM O Dia radio, they released their debut album Revelação in 2000 under BMG, featuring a notable cover of Leci Brandão's "Zé do Caroço" and collaborations with members of Kiloucura. The group's breakthrough came with the 2002 live album Ao Vivo no Olimpo, which sold over 700,000 copies, propelling them to national fame. Subsequent albums like Novos Tempos (2003), Velocidade da Luz (2006), and Aventureiro (2008) solidified their status, with hits such as "Deixa Acontecer," "Coração Radiante," and "Tá Escrito." Their 2009 live DVD Ao Vivo no Morro, recorded at Morro da Urca, showcased their deep connection to Rio's cultural roots. Despite lineup changes—including the departure of lead vocalist Xande de Pilares in 2014 and the introduction of his nephew Jonathan Alexandre in 2018—the group continued to evolve, releasing projects like Confie Em Mim (2019) and the collaborative Pagode do Revela (2020), featuring artists such as Jorge Aragão and Leci Brandão. In 2025, the group celebrated 30 years in the Brazilian music scene through the live albums Revelação 30 Anos: O Nosso Samba Virou Religião!, Vol. 1 and 2, featuring appearances by Péricles, Rodriguinho, Xande de Pilares, Sorriso Maroto, and Thiaguinho.
